Dinkies 3 Owls–Shaped Card Project

Morning All!

It’s Lisa here with a new project and today I’m showcasing one of the recently released Dinkies Stamps. I’ve used Dinkies 3 Owls:

3-owls

Shaped cards make a nice change from simple squares and rectangles. So I have used a fancy shaped die to create my card blank.

Supplies:
  • Sentiment from Wavy Elephants Stamp Set
  • Memento ‘Tuxedo Black’ and ‘Desert Sand’ Inkpads
  • White Stamping Card, Kraft Card and Ivory Card
  • Alcohol Pens
  • Patterned Paper
  • Die Cutting Machine
  • 3 Shaped Nesting Dies
  • Flower and Leaf Punches, Fancy Oval Die, Pearls and Gems

Step by Step:

To create the shaped card blank:

  1. Take an A4 piece of ivory card and score/fold in half, you should now have an A6 card blank.20160505_000930
  2. Place the largest of the three shaped dies onto the card, making sure the edge of the die is over the fold.20160505_001046
  3. Run through your die cutting machine (Depending on your machine you may need to run it through a couple of times as you are cutting a double thickness of card. 20160505_003029

To create the card:

  1. Using the smallest of the three dies, die cut a piece of patterned paper. Mat onto a piece of kraft card die cut with the middle sized die and fix to the card blank.
  2. Using black ink stamp the sentiment (from the Wavy Elephants Stamp Set) onto the bottom of the patterned paper.
  3. Using pale brown ink stamp your Dinkies 3 Owls image onto white stamping card, die cut into an oval and colour in with alcohol markers. Mat onto a fancy oval die cut from ivory card and fix to the card base with foam pads.
  4. Punch leaves and flowers from some scraps of cards and add to the edge of the fancy oval.
  5. Decorate with gems and pearls.
